Ten years together deserves to be celebrated.

Not necessarily with something elaborate. Sometimes it looks like an evening at the beach, bare feet in the sand, a little ocean breeze, lots of laughing, and an hour where you get to forget about everything else and simply enjoy each other.

That’s exactly what this Punta Cana anniversary photoshoot felt like.

They came to the Dominican Republic celebrating ten years together, and I loved that they decided to make photography part of the trip. We didn’t want the session to feel formal or overly posed. The idea was much simpler: let them have fun, be together, and create photographs that actually felt like them.

And honestly, those are always some of my favorite sessions.

You Don’t Need to Be Newly Engaged to Have Beautiful Photos Together

We take so many photographs at the beginning of a relationship.

The engagement. The wedding. The honeymoon.

And then somehow, as the years pass and life gets busier, being intentionally photographed together becomes less common.

That’s one of the things I love most about anniversary sessions.

Whether you’re celebrating your first anniversary, 10 years, 20 years, or simply a chapter of life that feels worth remembering, you don’t need another reason.

The years you’ve built together are the reason.

An anniversary trip to Punta Cana is already special. Adding a photography session gives you something tangible to bring home from it—not just photographs of where you traveled, but photographs of who you were together in that moment.

For this session, I wanted everything to feel easy.

We walked along the beach, played near the water, took our shoes off, laughed a lot, and let the evening unfold without trying to make every moment perfect.

Of course, I’ll always guide you.

You don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose, where to put your hands, or what you’re supposed to do in front of a camera. That’s my job.

But my approach is less about holding one perfect pose after another and more about creating little moments where something real can happen.

Sometimes I’ll give you direction. Sometimes I’ll ask you to walk together, get closer, dance for a second, or do something that makes you laugh. And sometimes I’ll simply let the two of you have a moment while I photograph it.

The result is a mix of romantic portraits, playful photographs, little details, and those in-between expressions that often become the images you love most.

What Does a Punta Cana Anniversary Photoshoot Feel Like?

If you’re imagining an hour of standing stiffly in front of the camera and smiling, I promise that’s not what I want for you.

I want the experience itself to become part of the memory.

Most couples tell me at some point that they’re “not good at pictures.” That’s completely okay. You don’t need to be.

My sessions are relaxed and guided, and we keep moving so there isn’t that pressure of wondering what to do next.

You get to walk along the Caribbean, hold hands, laugh, get a little sandy, maybe get your feet wet, and simply spend some intentional time together.

The beautiful photographs happen along the way.

Why Celebrate Your Anniversary in Punta Cana?

There’s something about being away from everyday life that makes it easier to slow down.

No schedules, errands, work emails, or normal routines—just a few days together somewhere completely different.

Punta Cana gives us such a beautiful backdrop for that.

The Caribbean water, palms, natural beaches, warm evenings, and soft light create an incredible setting without needing much else. For couples visiting the Dominican Republic for an anniversary, honeymoon, vow renewal, or romantic getaway, a photoshoot can become another experience you share during the trip.

And years later, the photographs won’t only remind you what Punta Cana looked like.

They’ll remind you what this particular season of your relationship felt like.

Where Do We Take Anniversary Photos in Punta Cana?

The right location depends on where you’re staying and the kind of photographs you’re drawn to.

One of my favorite locations for couples is Macao Beach. It has a beautiful, natural Caribbean feel with plenty of space to create different looks throughout a session.

For my Punta Cana sessions, private transportation to the photography location can be coordinated so you don’t have to worry about navigating somewhere unfamiliar while you’re on vacation.

There are also other options depending on your resort, accessibility, and the experience you want.

Once I know where you’re staying, I can help recommend the location and timing that make the most sense for your session.

When Is the Best Time for Anniversary Photos in Punta Cana?

For romantic couple sessions, I especially love photographing during the final part of the afternoon.

We usually begin before sunset so we have time to create different types of images as the light changes.

Earlier in the session, we can capture brighter Caribbean colors and playful photographs near the water. As the sun gets lower, everything begins to feel softer and more romantic.

The exact start time changes throughout the year, so I always confirm timing closer to the session date.

You don’t have to figure that part out yourself.

Tell me when you’ll be in Punta Cana, and I’ll help you plan around the light.

What Should You Wear for an Anniversary Photoshoot?

The most important thing is that you still feel like yourselves.

You don’t need to match perfectly. In fact, I usually prefer when couples coordinate rather than wear identical colors.

For the beach, soft neutrals, whites, creams, earthy colors, pastels, and natural fabrics photograph beautifully. Movement also looks amazing, so dresses, skirts, linen, and fabrics that catch a little Caribbean breeze can work especially well.

But your outfits should also reflect your personality.

If you’re celebrating ten years and want to dress up and make the evening feel like a date, do it.

If barefoot, relaxed, and playful feels much more like the two of you, that can be just as beautiful.

I’m also always happy to help with outfit choices before the session. You can send me photos of what you’re considering and we can look at them together.

Make a Date Out of It

One thing I love recommending to anniversary couples is not treating the photoshoot as the entire plan for the evening.

Make it part of the date.

Get ready together, come to the beach, spend an hour creating photographs, and then go somewhere beautiful for dinner afterward.

Suddenly it isn’t just “we booked photos.”

It becomes one of the evenings you remember from the trip.

Especially when you’re celebrating a milestone like 5, 10, 20, or 25 years together, I think there’s something really special about intentionally making time for each other.

More Than Vacation Photos

Of course, I want you to leave your session with beautiful photographs.

But I also want you to remember laughing together on the beach.

I want you to remember walking barefoot through the sand, the ocean in the background, the ridiculous thing one of you said that made the other laugh, and that little feeling of we actually did this.

Because an anniversary isn’t really about a number.

It’s about everything that happened between year one and year ten—and all the ordinary days, adventures, changes, challenges, and memories that somehow became a life together.

That deserves to be documented too.
